ITKAN CAD Training - 7/20/2024
This week, we will learn about the process of creating drawings and its purpose. This includes learning about dimensions, tolerances, the title block (drawing name and revision), and adding notes.
CAD Class Week 9 - Onshape
Group Project - Stationary Robotic Arm (5 to 6 students per group)
We will also starting the preparations for the group project.
Before starting the project, students must review these tips on sharing and working on same Onshape document
Tech Tip: Simultaneous Editing, Sharing and Real-Time Collaboration in Onshape
Group Project - Onshape document.
ITKAN CAD Training - 6/29/2024 Continue
This week we will be starting a multiple weeks long pneumatic project design.
Students must follow along the instructions in Week 7 Part 1 and 2
The second portion of the training will be dedicated to learning about how to 3D and laser cut custom designed parts.
This is in preparation for getting the students familiar with using ITKAN's printers and laser cutting machines.
OnShape Project - CAD for Robotics Manufacturing

ITKAN CAD Training - 6/22/2024 Continue
This week we will continue our work on the 2-stage gearbox design and start the work on a simple robot gripper assembly.
Ressource CAD Class Week 6 - OnShape (Part 1)
Follow along the video to continue work on the create a 2-stage gearbox design (COTS parts importing).
Ressource CAD Class Week 6 - OnShape (Part 2)
Continue 2-stage gearbox design - lightening importing to the gearbox plates
OnShape Project - Robot Gripper
Follow along the video playlist to create custom parts and assemble the gripper.

● Using Boolean operations (Union, Substract and Intersect)
● Applying linear and circular patterning
● An introduction to concurrent top-down and bottom-up designs
● Creating a Multi-Part design in a Part Studio
● Using the Mirror tool (create complete model from half-model)
Students will be creating three models using the instructions in the lesson plan.
● Tray
● Nozzle
● Cantilever Clamp
